The Government of Dina Boluarte made official the payment of the Christmas bonus for the National Holidays, which will be made effective in the July payroll of public sector workers. Through Supreme Decree No. 124-2024-EF, published in the official newspaper El Peruano, the granting of this benefit was authorized, the amount of which amounts to S/300.
Likewise, the legal device of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) establishes that the bonus is not subject to contributions, levies or discounts of any kind, except those established by law or authorized by the worker. Christmas bonus: who will receive it?
It’s official. The Peruvian government published the Supreme Decree No. 124-2024-EFthrough which the payment of the S/300 bonus for public sector workers is authorized, which will be made once only in the July payroll, on the occasion of the National Holidays.
The law signed by President Dina Boluarte and the Minister of Economy, José Arista, indicates that this extra money will be deposited to the following beneficiaries:
- Officials, employees appointed and contracted under the labor regime of Legislative Decree No. 276, Law No. 2944 and Law No. 30512.
- University teachers under Law No. 30220.
- Health personnel under Legislative Decree No. 1153; permanent and temporary workers in the public sector.
- Personnel of the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru.
- Pensioners covered by the regimes of Laws No. 15117 and 28091, Supreme Decree No. 051-88-PCM, as well as Decree Laws No. 19846 and 20530.
- Workers hired under the CAS labor regime (Legislative Decree No. 1057).
According to the Supreme Decree, the S/300 bonus It was established in accordance with Article 7 of the Public Sector Budget Law for Fiscal Year 2024, and is financed from the budgetary credits assigned in the institutional item of public entities.
What are the requirements to receive the S/300 bonus?
According to article 2 of the legal device of the Ministry of Economy, state workers must meet these requirements to receive the Christmas bonus:
- Having been working as of June 30, 2024, or on vacation leave, paid leave, or receiving the subsidies indicated in the Social Security Modernization Law in Health.
- Have a seniority of at least three months as of June 30 of this year. If the indicated time is not met, said concept is paid in proportion to the months and days worked.
Christmas Bonus: Who receives S/100?
As established in article 9 of Supreme Decree No. 124-2024-EF, interns of Human Medicine and Dentistry will receive a bonus of S/100, within the framework of the Second Final Complementary Provision of Emergency Decree No. 016-2020, which is not subject to social security contributions.
In the case of the National Magistrates’ Union, the payment of the Christmas bonus is calculated in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 29944, the Teachers’ Reform Law, granting teachers with full-time work hours an amount not less than that indicated in literal a) of numeral 7.1 of article 7 of the Public Sector Budget Law for Fiscal Year 2024.
