Produce authorizes exploratory fishing for bonito until December 31

The Ministry of Production (Produce) authorized the Institute of the Sea of ​​Peru (Imarpe) to start exploratory fishing for bonito until December 31 or until reaching 500 tons as the maximum catch allowed during the research activity, or, failing that, when Imarpe recommends it for reasons of conservation of the mentioned resource.

Exploratory fishing is applicable to shipowners who have a valid fishing permit to operate artisanal vessels, exclusively with the use of seine nets (active fishing gear) and who comply with other provisions.

Among them, artisanal fishing vessels that participate in this exploratory fishing may only carry a purse seine fishing net on board. In addition, they must provide the habitability facilities for the development of the work of the Scientific Research Technician, as well as the delivery of biological samples that is requested by Imarpe.

Likewise, they are obliged to discharge the captured resource only at the authorized landing points and facilitate the control of the discharge by the supervisors of the Ministry of Production or the Regional Governments, being prohibited from carrying out any activity of transshipment of resources. hydrobiological between fishing vessels.

Finally, the General Directorate of Supervision, Inspection and Sanction of the Vice-Ministerial Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministry of Production, will adopt the follow-up, control and surveillance measures that are necessary to ensure compliance with the provisions of the standard.
