Longitudinal de la Sierra Section 4: seven bidders interested in US$1.2 billion project

The Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión) prequalified seven bidders as suitable to present their technical and economic proposals in the bidding ceremony for the “Longitudinal de la Sierra Tramo 4” road project, which requires an investment close to US $1.2 billion (including VAT) and is expected to be awarded in the third quarter of 2024.

These are seven global operator bidders, including national and Latin American, European and Asian operators, such as Sacyr Concesiones SL; Concesionaria Vial del Centro (Construction and Administration SA and Hidalgo and Hidalgo SA); Obrascon Huarte Lain SA; China Communications Construction Company Ltd. Peru Branch; Carretera de los Andes Consortium (Grodco Inversiones SA and Ingeniería Estrella SA); Operadora Surperú SA; R&R Consortium (Benito Roggio E Hijos SA Peru Branch and Rovella Carranza SA Peru Branch).

The execution of this mega road project will benefit 1.6 million people from Junín, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho and Apurímac. Likewise, it will reduce logistics costs, promote greater productivity and competitiveness in the regions and facilitate family access to public services, improving their quality of life; and will promote commercial, industrial and service activities in the area of ​​influence.

The Longitudinal de la Sierra Section 4 project is promoted by ProInversión on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), and includes the concession delivery of approximately 900 kilometers of track that connects five regions.

The future concessionaire will be in charge of the design, financing, conservation prior to the interventions, execution of the interventions (initial periodic maintenance in approximately 627 kilometers, rehabilitation and improvement in approximately 148 kilometers and the construction of the San Clemente bypass in Ica in approximately 5 kilometers), and the operation and maintenance of the road (the remaining kilometers will be delivered by the sector to be operated and maintained from the beginning of the concession).

The concession period will be 25 years, under the modality of Co-financed Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The APP will guarantee the sustainability of the road, with quality standards, during the concession period.
