This year’s edition of the National Polish Song Festival in Opole will take place from May 31 to June 2. Even though she is the undisputed queen of the Polish music scene, she was not among the invited artists. Wojciech Iwański said in an interview with “Fakt”: “There will be no Maryla Rodowicz. And me I don’t see anything strange about it. Maryla Rodowicz did not fit, so to speak, into the formula of this festival. “She wouldn’t have performed in the debuts, if she had submitted the song, she would have performed in the premieres.” These words suggest that the lack of invitation results from a programming decision and not from personal animosity.

Despite many injuries and health problems, Maryla Rodowicz continues. Her recent concert was interrupted due to bad weather, but the artist was ready to continue the performance. Iwański added: “As far as I know, Mrs. Maryla doesn’t want to race with anyone anymore. She will not perform in a concert in honor of Janusz Kondratowicz because she has never sung his songs. He already has Super One. Please don’t think this is censorship. There is no censorship, there was no censorship, at least on my part“.
