In the first quarter of this year, fixed internet connections amounted to 3,655,977, 10.17% more than in the same period of 2023, according to Osiptel.
The result is explained by technological improvements such as the advancement of fiber optics – which covers 61.96% of total connections – and by the greater competitive dynamics among market operators.
However, Telefónica is the only company that experienced a sharp decline: it lost 293,756 fixed internet users. Despite the decline in its universe of connections, it leads the field with 1 million 335,070. It concentrates 36.5%.
On the other hand, Claro grew by 80,027 connections and occupies second place, with 921,586 users and a 25.2% market share.
And, on the third step, is Grupo Win with 526,395 connections, approximately 200,000 more than in the accumulated January – March 2023. Wow completes the podium with an increase of 4.4% and 453,973 fixed internet connections.
