The Chancay megaport, which will be the gateway to the Asian market for both Peru and the region, is 74% built.

From the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), they stated that the tunnel that goes from the Chancay Special Zone to the terminal “has made great progress” and is “practically completed.”

“We have the start date of operations (of the megaport) in November of this year, meeting the established deadlines,” said the Deputy Minister of Transportation, Ismael Sutta.

According to the MTC, the port hub will have the capacity for the largest cargo ships in the world to dock, which can transport more than 18,000 containers and, in its first stage, it will have 4 docks measuring 1,500 meters in length. Likewise, in the future, there could be 15.

Finally, they stated that they will allocate more than US$300 million for works that will improve connectivity for the benefit of the citizens of Chancay.
