Hyundai will build ships in Peru

The Industrial Services of the Navy SA (Simat Perú) reported that Hyunday, the largest shipyard in the world, will participate in the construction of ships in our country, within the framework of the specific agreements signed with the Peruvian Navy.

Sima specified that the projects are developed within the framework of the measures adopted by the Executive Branch aimed at the Reform of the National Industry through the Strengthening of the Naval Industry in Peru.

As part of the selection process for a co-producing shipyard, letters of interest were sent to the Embassies of Germany, South Korea, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

“Specialized advice from Centrum PUCP was hired as not only technical aspects, cost, deadlines had to be included but also the level of technological transfer, industrial compensation, participation of the national industry among other criteria,” indicated Sima.

Homework? The execution of local naval construction projects of 2 Auxiliary Logistics Transport Units, 1 Ocean Patrol Vessel and 1 Multirole Vessel. Due to the complexity of the decision-making process, the use of a multi-criteria matrix for complex solutions was proposed.

It should be noted that the process that gave the winner to Hyundai Heavy Industriesa South Korean company with which Sima hopes to “have a fruitful relationship in the coming years”, was developed by an Ad Hoc Selection Board.

“We appreciate the participation of all the shipyards that presented proposals, taking into consideration that being world class, with high levels of experience enriched the process,” the workshop detailed.
