The debate on the inexorable reform of the pension system already has a date. The Congressional Economy Commission will meet this Monday, March 25, from 11:00 am to decide the fate of its opinion—which includes more than fifty bills and the proposal of the Executive Branch—.

Through X (formerly Twitter), the parliamentarian Worthy Street pointed out that The proposal to modify the pension regime will have to be brought to the Plenary Session of Congress on Wednesday, March 27; and assured that “the people’s excuses and patience are over”, considering that within the document, there is the possibility of withdrawing up to 4 UITs from the AFP.

What are the key points of the pension system reform?

  • The market opens: new players, including cooperatives.
  • Free transfer between AFP and ONP: funds are no longer lost and there could be a double pension; as well as the free choice of regime.
  • A minimum pension of S/600, both for the AFP and the ONP. The maximum would be S/1,000 in the public.
  • 4 UITs can be withdrawn from the AFP, but it will not be available to everyone: only for those unemployed in the last six months until November 2023.
  • You can increase your fund every time you go shopping: 1% of the value of the receipts will go to your individual account.
