The Household Targeting System (Sisfoh) is used as a technical tool designed to identify households that are in conditions of poverty and vulnerability. Its main task is to categorize households into different socioeconomic levels, which facilitates the effective allocation of social programs and implementation of public policies. In this way, citizens registered in this registry have the possibility of accessing a variety of benefits aimed at strengthening their economic situation and that of their families.
It is important to know that not all people are classified within any category in Sisfoh, so the set of economic and social supports is aimed at a specific segment of the population. Below, we tell you detailed information about what you need to know about the subject.
Sisfoh socioeconomic classification: what are they?
The entity classifies households into three main categories: non-poor, poor and in extreme poverty. This process is based on an exhaustive analysis that considers income, living conditions and other relevant socioeconomic aspects with the purpose of guaranteeing a fair and equitable allocation of resources.
What social programs or benefits can you access if you are in Sisfoh?
According to the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), the entity responsible for the Household Targeting System (Sisfoh), there are several social programs and benefits specifically targeted to those with a socioeconomic classification of poverty or extreme poverty. In this sense, a variety of social programs are administered aimed at improving the quality of life of Peruvian citizens in vulnerable conditions. Among them are the following:
- Pension 65: a subsidy aimed at citizens aged 65 or over in situations of extreme poverty, and provides a bimonthly pension.
- Together: program that provides financial support to families with children or adolescents, to encourage their attendance at school and health check-ups.
- With You Program: offers assistance to people with severe disabilities in poverty, through economic transfers.
- Scholarship 18: grants full scholarships to talented low-income young people to access higher technical or university education.
- Free SIS: comprehensive system that guarantees free access to health services for people without insurance and in precarious situations.
- Llamkasun Peru (Works Peru): temporary employment program that seeks to improve employability through the generation of employment in basic infrastructure works and community activities.
- National Program for Employability: initiatives aimed at improving the work capabilities and skills of the unemployed or underemployed population.
- National Rural Housing Program: aimed at improving living conditions in rural areas, which facilitates access to decent and safe housing.
- Protection bonus for homes vulnerable to seismic risks: financial support for the reinforcement or reconstruction of homes in earthquake-prone areas.
- Free DNI processing for address update: facilitates updating the address on the national identity document at no cost.
