During January, the Consumer Price Index (CPI)—read, inflation—presented a variation of 0.02%, according to the INEI.

Thus, inflation starts the year of GDP’s statistical rebound at 3.02%, statistically one step away from the BCRP’s target range—between 1% and 3%.

It should be added that for three years the CPI has been outside the target range despite the constant decline.

The issuing entity already recognized that Peru is one of the first countries in the region to approach its inflation target range, and specialized entities recognize that this purpose would be achieved in the first quarter.
