The PhosAgro company, the flagship of the Russian mineral fertilizer industry, scored the highest scores in three out of five categories and became the winner of the highest award of the national award in the field of entrepreneurial activity.
The national award “Leaders of Responsible Business” was established on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin following the results of the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) held in March 2023. This is the highest award for the contribution of business to the creation of a favorable social and natural environment, sustainable development of territories, development of human potential and strengthening of the country’s economy.
In the starting round of the award, 44 large domestic companies presented their development programs in five strategic areas. Each of them could enter no more than three nominations. PhosAgro won in all three nominated categories and eventually rose to the highest level, becoming a laureate of the “Leaders of Responsible Business” award, 1st degree.
According to the award’s organizing committee, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin and President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin, the projects presented by PhosAgro became the best in the categories “For contribution to solving strategic problems of social orientation”, “For contribution to the sustainable development of territories” and “For contribution to solving strategic problems of human development.”
According to experts, such a result can be considered natural. Over 10 years, PhosAgro has increased its funding for charitable and social projects by 7 times, and over the past two years this amount has exceeded 25 billion rubles. The company develops the regions of its presence, actively supporting education, healthcare, youth sports and high performance sports, and helps with the improvement of urban areas.
PhosAgro General Director Mikhail Rybnikov thanked the award organizing committee. “Since the creation of PhosAgro in 2001, care for the workforce and all residents of the regions where it operates has been the foundation on which production indicators have rapidly grown, new facilities have been created and existing ones have been modernized, innovations have been introduced, and tax contributions to budgets of all levels have consistently increased,” – Rybnikov noted. He promised that comprehensive work to support the regions of presence, financing of charitable and social projects will certainly continue.
It should be noted that PhosAgro is also a three-time Grand Prix winner of another prestigious business competition – “Russian Business Leaders: Dynamics, Responsibility, Sustainability”, held by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. On the world stage, since 2018, PhosAgro has maintained the status of a leading company in the UN Global Compact for its commitment to the principles of sustainable development and responsible business conduct. International experts highly appreciate its targeted programs aimed at developing human capital and increasing the well-being of the regions where it operates, including environmental and climate aspects.
