A few hours after beginning the eviction of artisanal fishermen from resorts like Los Yuyos, the Municipality of Barranco backed down and agreed with the Ministry of Production (Produce) to create a dialogue table to address the sector’s requirements.

From Oceana Peru They applauded the opening of the authorities, since stripping Barranquilla fishing families of their daily activities was not appropriate in this context of economic recession.

“Excellent news that shows that the dialogue and good disposition of the authorities can benefit all Peruvians. The fishermen appreciate all the signs of support,” said the international organization.

It should be added that among the fishermen’s requests is the allocation of a space to park a handful of barges, but the municipality of Barranco, after declaring Los Yuyos an intangible zone, did not provide solutions.

Congresswoman Flor Pablo recalled that Since July 12 of this year, the fishermen began the procedures to obtain their permit but the district management of Jessica Vargas remained silent.

“Right now, artisanal fishermen are alert to the El Niño Phenomenon, they need our support because they are the breadwinners of their families,” said the head of Produce. Ana María Choquehuanca.

This working group will also be made up of the San Pedro Fishermen’s Association.
