Matarani: Tisur breaks another record of 45,000 MT of soybeans and sunflowers transported from Bolivia

The port of Matarani, operated by Terminal Internacional del Sur (Tisur), moved more than 45,000 tons of Bolivian soybeans and sunflowers in October, which marks a new historical milestone when compared to its highest peak of 22,000 moved in 2021.

The new record, which represents an increase of more than 45% in the volume of exports of this type of Bolivian cargo through the port to date, was achieved with the attention of three ships of soybean and sunflower cake.

The Romero Group company expects to reach 100,000 MT, which will represent the record of the last five years, and an increase of 20% compared to 2022.

“The port of Matarani has become a strategic partner of Bolivian foreign trade thanks to its modern port infrastructure, services and efficient management,” highlighted Tisur.

The port of Matarani is a multipurpose terminal with the capacity to handle different types of cargo such as solid bulk, liquid bulk, fractional cargo and containers.

The investments for the expansion and development of infrastructure made by Tisur, in charge of modernizing the port for 24 years and in the process of which it has spent S/150,000 million, have made the terminal the second most important in the country.

“We are very proud to be a strategic ally in the bulk export logistics chain of the brother country of Bolivia. We are the second most important port in the country and we accompany the development of foreign trade in the region,” said Mauricio Nuñez del Prado, General Manager of Tisur.

Tisur: Matarani, gateway to Islay

Matarani has 03 modern docks. The C, from where the load of minerals from the main mining projects in the south of the country is shipped, but also clinker and fertilizers and which has the capacity to serve ships of up to 245 meters in length.

Meanwhile, dock F, the most important as it is the gateway for the direct exit of the country’s copper production and which allows the handling of vessels up to 205 meters in length.

The cargo of containers, clean bulk, fertilizers, breakbulk cargo and liquids can be shipped through docks A and B, with the capacity to serve ships of 245 meters in length.
