The congressmen of Unity and Parliamentary Dialogue presented this Tuesday, October 17, a bill that proposes ortwist a extraordinary bonus and exceptional to the members of the General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru (CGBVP) in activity and who participate in operational or emergency tasks.
The legal proposal indicates that the subsidy, corresponding to the 2024 budget year, would amount to 2 UIT, which is currently S/9,900, and would be delivered in three installments, in the months of February, July and December.
The specific rule is that the bonus is of an extraordinary and exceptional nature, is not remunerative in nature, and is granted only once to every member of the CGBVP. In addition, he adds that the requirements will be specified in the regulations of the law that authorizes the subsidy.
In its complementary provisions it mentions that the Executive Branch will have a period of 60 calendar days to regulate the rule once it comes into force.
Among the foundations of the bill it is mentioned that the members of the General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru, despite providing a free and totally voluntary public service, are not considered officials or public servants and, therefore, lack multiple benefits or rights.
Likewise, it is highlighted that to date “firefighters have responded to the call of 56,828 emergencies, and currently, we have almost 250 companies and approximately 16,500 firefighters to provide assistance to more than 33 million Peruvians.”
