Most indicators of business expectations deteriorated in June compared to the previous month, according to the Central Reserve Bank (BCRP).
Businessmen’s expectations regarding the Peruvian economy went from 45 to 53 points at 3 months, and from 56 to 51 points at 12 months. Meanwhile, expectations regarding the sector where they operate went from 48 to 45 points at 3 months, and from 58 to 55 at 12 months.
Regarding the situation of the company, the businessmen surveyed lowered their expectations at 3 months from 51 to 46 points, and from 62 to 57 points at 12 months. The demand for products also weighed down from 51 to 50 points at 3 months, and from 63 to 61 points at 12 months.
Finally, the hiring of personnel at 3 months stagnated at 47 points, while, at 12 months, they went from 54 to 52. Investment expectations, in this way, fell from 47 to 45 points at 3 months, although they rose from 54 to 55 points at 12 months.
Regarding the current situation, the entrepreneurs surveyed lowered their business expectations from 47 to 45, and their sales expectations from 47 to 46.
Current production expectations also fell from 47 to 45 points, and demand compared to what was expected from 37 to 35. Purchase orders were stuck at 45 points, and days of unwanted inventories rose from 8 to 12, a symptom the weakening of domestic demand.
