The period for obtaining construction permits in Peru varies on average from five to eight months, depending on the municipality, according to the Doing Business in Peru (2020) report, which also identified the presence of construction companies as an opportunity for improvement. urban reviewers, being an alternative to strengthen and accelerate the building license process.

It should be remembered that the same report, in 2009, indicated that to obtain a construction permit in Peru, 21 procedures, 210 days and a cost equivalent to 139.7% of GDP per capita were required, variables that placed the country in the position 115 of 181 in the ranking. While the urban inspectors began their activities in 2019 and since then there has been a decrease in the time to obtain a municipal license.

In recent weeks, the regulation of the Social Interest Housing Law (VIS) caused a series of reactions, especially negative from the mayors of several districts of Metropolitan Lima, since it is proposed to allocate 10% of each district for the VIS. Carlos Canales, Miraflores burgomaster, affirmed that this provision threatens the legal security of his district through the urban inspectors.

For her part, the Association of Urban Reviewers of Peru rejected these statements, demonstrating that what was asserted was not true. They recalled that its creation was given precisely as a response to the municipal inactivity or delay that existed at the time and that harmed private investment in our country.

“As the Association of Urban Reviewers of Peru, we express our willingness to participate in work groups that are oriented to the knowledge of our functions and our praxis, our main task being to advise and make projects viable; that is, through direct attention without loss of time, provide support and solutions to obtain the conformity of the file”, pointed out.

Finally, they highlighted that, thanks to their work, they have managed to reduce project and preliminary project review periods, which take an average of 65 days, compared to the time taken by a Municipal Technical Commission, whose average is 185. days.
