The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) estimates that the long holiday that begins this Thursday, June 29, the date that commemorates the Saint Peter and Saint Paul Dayand runs until Sunday, July 2, will mobilize around 550,000 people nationwide.
The head of the sector, Juan Carlos Mathews, highlighted the importance of holidays for the reactivation of all related businesses to tourism.
“People travel, seek to discover new places or revisit one they liked. We estimate that travel over this long weekend will generate an economic impact of US$75 million,” she commented.
On the other hand, the Vice Minister of Tourism, Madeleine Burns, pointed out that the average ticket per person would amount to S/512, including transportation, food, accommodation and tourist activities. “We know that 17.1% of travelers will contract a tour package and 13.9% will purchase a tour upon arrival at their destination,” she added.

Most visited regions
A study conducted by the Mincetur revealed that 70.4% of the people who will travel during these dates will do so for vacation, recreation or leisure, and another 19.2% will have visits to family and friends among their reasons.
The research also indicates that 28.5% of travelers will seek to visit northern areas, and 24% will visit the center of the country. The most visited regions would be La Libertad, Cajamarca, Piura, Áncash, Ica, Junín and Ayacucho.
Finally, in the case of the capital, Metropolitan Lima —including Callao— and Lima provinces, they would receive 22.2% of the visitors.
Most will travel with their family
On this holiday, 29.4% would travel with their direct family; 23.1%, with friends or relatives without children; 8.8% of friends or relatives with children; 21.3% would do it alone; and 17.4% accompanied by their partner.
Regarding lodging, 68.3% would stay in hotels, the majority in 3-star hotels.
