Lots of insects get into homes, but flies are especially problematic. They usually appear in swarms, fly overhead, sit on food, spreading germs and making faces grimace. It is not uncommon for them to lay eggs in the nooks and crannies, from which dozens of individuals hatch. And then it gets really nasty.

There are plenty of products available in stores to help fight flies. Starting from smelly and toxic sprays, ending with not very humane electric lamps that burn everything that touches them. There are also traps for flies, but these – let’s face it – are neither particularly effective nor aesthetic.
It smells beautiful, pleases the eye and does not undermine human morality
Fortunately, there is a way to protect our house from the invasion of flies. It does not smell – on the contrary, it is humane and completely non-toxic, and it really pleases the eye. In addition, it does not kill flies, which – as we mentioned – play an important role in the ecosystem – but only scares them away. It is enough to arm yourself with a plant that, placed by the windows, will be an aromatic shield against flies (and other insects).
You do not need to go to a super-equipped gardening store with a thousand species of plants, because what we need, we will get in every grocery store. Mint has a strong and fresh smell that flies hate. However, it is not enough to put a bush on the kitchen table. Let’s buy a few – a dozen pieces and put them near the windows. They will look beautiful with pretty pots. Peppermint is the best because it has a stronger smell. You can also try to sow mint “from scratch”, then we will spend much less money on it. This herb grows easily and quickly, so we certainly won’t complain about a small amount.
