A total of 1,200 million soles were transferred by the national government to the regional governments for the payment of the social debt to the workers in the education sector (teachers, unemployed, retired and administrative). The disbursement will be given to those who have judicial sentences as res judicata and in execution as of December 31, 2022.
Among them are those who demanded recognition of 30% for class preparation. The secretary of the Arequipa Regional Teachers Union (Simag), Walter Andía Salinas, said that the payment is expected to amount to S/15,000 for those who are unemployed and S/10,000 for active teachers.
Amount for Arequipa
According to annex 2 of Supreme Decree 113-2023 of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, that authorized the transfer, for the Education sector of the Arequipa region, S/ 138 million 889 thousand was allocated.
The amount will be distributed as follows: Regional Education Management with S/23 million 405 thousandFrancisco Bolognesi Military College with S/ 2 million 052 thousand, Local Educational Management Unit (Ugel) North with S/ 44 million 387 thousand soles and Ugel Sur with S/ 66 million 041 thousand.
While for the Ugel Camana the amount amounts to S/ 310 thousand 304, Ugel Caravelí with S/ 313,095, Ugel Castilla with S/ 439,294, Ugel Condesuyos with S/ 120,884, Ugel Islay with 825,298, Ugel La Unión with 118,726, Ugel Caylloma with S/ 405,952 and Ugel La Joya with S/ 469,161.
According to Walter Andía, in the prioritized list of beneficiaries for the payment of the social debt, there are approximately 15,000 teachers. On the other hand, he said that they expect the Regional Government of Arequipa (GRA) to make known how much the balance of its budget last year amounts to.
