The Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) announced the participation of the operating companies in the market of mobile phone at the end of the first quarter of 2023. The report reveals that the company Claro displaced its biggest competitor Movistar and became the leading operator for the first time.
According to the results, the first place is occupied by Clearwhich during said period registered 12 million 391,504 mobile lines, which represents 29.99% of market share. While Movistar obtained 29.45% with 12 million 170,007 mobile lines.
Operators that registered the highest and lowest number of lines
According to the Punku computer portal, as of March 2023, Clear (+2.01%) and Entel (+3.41%) were the companies that reported the greatest increase in the number of lines, in relation to the same month of 2022. For their part, Movistar (-6.15%) and bitel (-3.00%) suffered the greatest reduction.
“The measures taken by the telecommunications regulatory entity, such as the number portability and the entry of new operatorshave contributed to a more intense competitive dynamic in the mobile market”, informed the executive president of Osiptel, Rafael Muente Schwarz.
Greater dynamism
As a result of the greater competitive dynamism, the difference in market share between Movistar and Claro It has been getting shorter year by year.
