Peruvian economy will only grow 2.5% this year, acknowledges the government

Despite the reduction in the estimate — previously located at 3.1% —, President Dina Boluarte pointed out that “Peru will continue to lead the region and is reliable for investors.”

  • Labor Day: how much should I be paid if I work on May 1 and how to calculate it?

Downward forecast. The president Dina Boluarte reported this Wednesday that the Peruvian economy would rise 2.5% this year, a figure that is far from the 3.1% projected by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

“GDP will grow 2.5% in 2023 and then converge around its potential growth in the coming years. Peru continues to lead economic growth in the region,” said the president.

Boluarte emphasized that local and foreign investors continue to bet on our market as social peace and expectations have recovered.

Thus, in the short term, it ensures that for the third quarter there are improvements in indicators such as public investment and electricity production —linked to economic activity—.

It is worth noting that the Government will make official this Thursday its update of macroeconomic projections, in a context where multilateral organizations such as the World Bank and the IMF have lowered the rate of change of the Peruvian economy to 2.4%.
