73% of industrial entrepreneurs in the country do not plan to hire more personnel in the next six months, weighed down by a lower volume of production and sales -which do not prove the need for more workers- and lack of budget, among other factors. In the case of investments for the April-May-June period, this refusal reaches 60%.
In the short term, expectations are worse. According to the recent Industrial Opinion Survey (EOI) – First Quarter, prepared by the National Society of Industries (SNI), 69% of businessmen in the Metalworking, Textile and Clothing, and Food and Beverage sectors do not expect to receive more staff in the next three months. Investments are following a similar path, with 58% of respondents not planning to make any.
The SNI assures that there is a deterioration compared to what was shown in the EOI – I quarter 2022. Only 17% indicated that they had had a higher production level, a percentage that rose to 45% in the results of the survey of the previous year.
In this way, 62% of businessmen stated that their production was affected by social conflicts and natural phenomena, “which has a direct impact on the supply chain, lower demand for products, input prices, among others” .
To balance the balance, 72% of industrial entrepreneurs today expect their company’s situation to be the same or better in the next three months, while 28% expect it to be negative. Those who expect the situation to be only “better” reach 29% of respondents, up from 26% in 2022 Q1 2022.
Meanwhile, 23% of the reporting businessmen expect a favorable situation in the economy for the next three months. This percentage was only 11% in the results for the first quarter of 2022. “This improvement would be helping to avoid a further setback in the investment and hiring prospects of businessmen,” said the industrial union.
