Juan Carlos Mathews Salazar is sworn in as the new head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism

This Sunday, April 23, the president Dina Boluarte appointed as head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) Juan Carlos Mathews Salazar who replaces Luis Fernando Helguero González in office, who was in charge of the portfolio since December 2022.

Mathews is an economist from the Universidad del Pacífico, general director of the USIL Graduate School and vice president of the World Trade Center Peru. He served as Vice Minister of Mype and Industry from July 2016 to August 2017, during the Government of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.

His time at the Mincetur dates back to 2001, when he was national director of Foreign Trade, where he was in charge of national Foreign Trade policies, design, implementation and supervision of the National Exporter Strategic Plan (PENX)an articulated work between the State and business associations such as ADEX, the Chamber of Commerce of Lima, COMEX and the National Society of Industries.

Then, in 2004, he was executive director of Prompex, the official export promotion agency that today bears the name of Promperureturned in 2009 as director of exports.
