Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev returned to the top 3 rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). The list is available on the organization’s website.
Medvedev displaced Norwegian Kasper Ruud from third place. On April 20, he lost to Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the third round of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona, thus failing to defend the points earned at this start in the 2021/2022 season.
On April 14, Medvedev reached the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament, being stronger than the German representative Alexander Zverev. The meeting ended with the score 3:6, 7:5, 7:6 (9:7). Medvedev later withdrew from the tournament. As a result, Rublev became the winner.
In 2022, Medvedev led the ATP rating for 16 weeks with a break. He set a record among Russian athletes for this indicator. The athlete won the US Open in 2021.
