José Luis Aguilar is appointed as the new head of the National Water Authority

The new authority will replace Juan Carlos Montero, who held the position since January of this year.

The Executive Branch, through the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), appointed Jose Luis Aguilar Huertas in the position of head of the National Water Authority (ANA).

Through Supreme Resolution No. 011-2023-MIDAGRI, the functions of Juan Carlos Montero Chirito, who presided over the institution since January of this year, were also terminated.

The new head of the entity attached to Midagri is an agronomist graduated from the National University of San Cristóbal de Huamanga, with master’s studies in Water and Land Resources Engineering from the La Molina National Agrarian University of Peru and Irrigation Engineering from Cedex, Madrid Spain.

In his professional experience, he highlights that he has been an advisor on issues related to Water Resources Management, head of the Water Resources Administration Directorate of the ANA, head of the Water Resources Directorate (Dirhi) of the Water Resources Administration of the Inrena, National Coordinator of the Program for Channeling Rivers and Protection of Channeling Structures (Perpec), among others.
