At 7 in the morning this friday On March 31, one of the Avianca planes loaded with flowers, fruit and fish left Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito for Los Angeles in the United States. This is the second flight this week as part of two new cargo frequencies of 65 tons each to this destination. Previously, Avianca already flew nine weekly frequencies to Miami, and these two new frequencies increase the capacity of cargo arrivals from Ecuador to that country.

Juan Cruz Correa, Vice President of Sales at Avianca Cargoconfirmed that this frequency for Los Angeles also allows Ecuador to connect to other destinations in the world, including Asia.

Cruz, who visited the country precisely for the official inauguration that took place last Thursday, explained that the company was motivated to provide a service of greater capacity, given that Ecuador has always been strong in flower export markets. On average, the country exports through Avianca Cargo 750 tons per week in the USA, of which 75% are flowers.

In this sense, he recalled that this Valentine’s Day, a record export via Miami was recorded: “Close 18,000 tons in about 300 flights operated out of Ecuador and Colombia in the recent Valentine season”.

Cruz emphasized that the airline currently has the capacity to expand its services with good quality. So he mentioned it They just received CEIV Fresh certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and an award as the US Airline of Excellence in Perishable Air Cargo Logistics at the STAT Awards.

For executives, this kind of recognition comes as a result of rigorous handling of sensitive shipments, where time and temperature are critical for both flower and other perishable products.
