He dollar exchange rate closed this Thursday, March 23, at S/3.7690, its lowest level so far this year and similar to the price of June 23, 2022 when it stood at S/3.7630. During the exchange session, the greenback depreciated -0.05% compared to S/3.7710 at the close of Wednesday.
At 2:15 pm, the US currency in the parallel market was offered at S/3,750 for purchase and S/3,780 for sale. While in the referential exchange rate in the banking market it reached S/3.7370 for the purchase and S/3.7990 for the sale at the Banco de Crédito del Perú.
“During the day there was downward pressure driven by offers from non-residents, the dollar reaching a minimum level of S/3.7600 and US$431 million were traded in the market at an average price of S/3.7651”, commented Gianina Villavicencio, Foreign Exchange Brokerage Manager at Renta4 SAB. She added that today there were maturities of Exchange Swaps Sale for S / 700 million, the same ones that were renewed to 9 months with an average rate of 5.40%.
Finally, Villavicencio indicated that the Latam currencies opened positive given the decline in the dollar in global markets and expectations of a possible pause in interest rate hikes by the United States Federal Reserve. The DXY trading at 102.08.
