The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, received today at the Government Palace Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), with whom he discussed issues on the post-COVID-19 pandemic economic recovery and structural reforms to eliminate social gaps.
Also participating in the meeting were the Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Francke; and the chancellor, Óscar Maúrtua.
During the visit, they also discussed the Organization of the 40th Period of ECLAC Sessions in 2024; as well as the Health Self-Sufficiency Plan for the region proposed by ECLAC, within the framework of the post-COVID-19 recovery, which includes issues such as guaranteeing equitable access to vaccines and greater regional coordination for health self-sufficiency.
Regarding economic recovery, aspects such as support for companies and jobs at risk, strengthening the role of international financial institutions and public policies to face the crisis were discussed.
The purpose of the meeting was to continue the conversations that the Head of State had with Alicia Bárcena during the VI Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held on September 18 in Mexico.
