Tacna: they denounce an imbalance of more than S/ 40 million in works

The district mayor of Gregorio Albarracín, Niel Zavala Meza, presented yesterday before the Institutional Control Body (OCI) of the Municipality a series of alleged irregularities in 14 works that the previous management left in execution. Zavala affirmed that there are indications of a budgetary imbalance in these works.

The entire package of works has a total budget that exceeds 40 million soles and was executed by direct administration. The mayor explained that The works barely have a physical progress of 15%, but the budget expense exceeds 50%.

He stressed that there are observations in extensions and delays in the projects. But the fact that has most caught his attention is the alleged discovery of “ghost workers.” In other words, the previous management would have paid remunerations to people who never attended to work on the works. He stressed that it will be the Public Ministry that investigates these cases.

He also highlighted that the management of the former mayor, Fredy Huashualdo Huanacuni, began the execution of most of the works when he ran for mayor of the province of Tacna.

The OCI will have to identify the degree of responsibility of the former mayor and officials, in the face of various irregularities detected in just two months”, the municipality said in a statement.

Among the works observed is the ecological park, a project that was found abandoned, without a supervisory company and with deteriorated construction materials. The mayor announced that an inspector will be appointed to resume work and carry out a selection process for a supervisory company.

The municipality of Albarracín received this year 54 million soles for mining canon. However, the previous management left works in progress, under the contracting modality, valued at 90 million soles. It is worrying that the entity cannot fulfill the commitments by not having all the money.

Zavala said that they will try to conclude the majority of projects. He indicated that the ministries in Lima will be used to get the money that is missing to complete the works that were left unfinished.
