Vyalbe refused to let Russian skiers go to other national teams

Vyalbe said she would not sign a paper for Russian skiers to change sports citizenship

President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe said she would refuse to let Russian skiers go to other national teams. Her words are quoted on the Skiing page on VKontakte.

“If one of the members of the Russian national team now decides that he wants to leave the country, I will definitely not sign such a paper for anyone. Because without us, he won’t be able to compete there, ”said Vyalbe. She stressed that at the moment, none of the Russian skiers have applied to the FLGR with a desire to change sports citizenship.

In October 2022, Vyalbe said that with the suspension, Russian athletes could find motivation to prepare for the Olympics. However, she added that she would not be surprised if some of the skiers decide to leave the sport due to non-admission to tournaments.

On September 22, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) denied Russian athletes admission to international tournaments for the 2022/2023 season. Skiers were suspended for the first time in March 2022.
