Peruvian grape exports recover after the release of roads in Ica

In the sixth week of 2023, the shipment of 41,205 tons of grapes through the ports of Pisco and Callao was completed. However, the Paita terminal registered losses, since it had become the main source of alternative movement.

According to a report from the Fresh Fruit portal, this volume shipped was 72% higher than the same week of the previous 2022 season. Thanks to this, the accumulated volume for the current campaign rose to 550,233 tons, that is, 11% higher than the previous one

From the port of Chalaco, grape producers managed to send 38,348 tons, an increase of 96% compared to the previous week. The Ica terminal, for its part, registered shipments for 1,881 tons, which was a great advance, “given that last week it did not register any.”

“The recovery of the port of Callao affected the port of Paita, which suffered a 72% drop, with an exported amount of 1,881 tons, and which during the blockade week had been the main source of alternative movement,” the report said.

Ica: Peruvian grape bound for the US

Regarding the exporting companies of Peruvian grapes, Corporación Agrolatina SAC increased its shipments by up to 92%, compared to the previous week. Similarly, El Pedregal SA, together with Agrícola Don Ricardo SAC, doubled their shipments. It should be noted that the latter is located in the south of the country and was able to register shipments again, going from 1,480 tons to 3,447 tons in one week.

Regarding the destinations for this product, the United States maintained first place, with a 54% share; followed by the Netherlands, with 11% participation; and in third place was China, with a share of 10.7%.
