Iraqi Football Federation invites Russia to host friendly match in Baghdad in March
The Iraqi Football Federation invited the Russian team to play a friendly match in Baghdad. It is reported by Al Sabaah.
The source said that they want to hold the meeting during the international break for matches of national teams in March. The teams of Bolivia and Uzbekistan also received invitations. The Russian Football Union (RFU) confirmed the information to TASS and said that in a response letter it offered the Iraqis to play in Sochi.
In 2022, the Russian team played three international matches. The national team defeated Kyrgyzstan (2:1), and also played two goalless draws with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Domestic teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team was excluded from the Nations League and qualification for the European Championship in 2024.
