The million and a half Venezuelan citizens represent “a potential and great asset” for Peru, according to the resident coordinator of the UN in Peru, Igor Garafulic.
The regime of Dina Boluarte launched this Friday the National Development and Social Inclusion Policy (PNDIS) by 2030, which seeks to reduce poverty to 15% in seven years by addressing not only the economic aspect, but also the quality of life of citizens: home, water and drainage, education, among others.
Within its multisectoral approach, the resident coordinator of the UN in Peru, Igor Garafulic, maintained that the PNDIS is a key instrument to achieve peace and end social exclusion from a human development and legal approach.
Also, he recommended that aid to the Venezuelan population residing in Peru should materialize.
“Despite not being explicitly mentioned in the plan,” The Government seeks to include groups not considered such as “the million and a half Venezuelan refugee migrants who plan to stay, for the most part, in Peru, who not only have significant needs, but also represent a potential and great asset for the country if they are fully integrated,” said Garafulic.
