The Council of Ministers has approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the special unemployment benefit for workers in the cultural and artistic sector.
The duration of the benefit is four months and is endowed with a amount of up to 100% of the IPREM for contributions that exceed the threshold of 61 euros. Below that level, a benefit of the 80% of the IPREM. The Ministry of Labor of the Spanish Government has recalled that the benefit is compatible with the perception of image rights and intellectual property.
Likewise, the Royal Decree-Law includes different measures so that the social protection of artists suits the characteristics of their professionsparticularly due to the intermittency of their activity, especially reinforcing support for the self-employed who have low incomes.
These new measures have the potential to reach 70,000 people affiliates currently classified as artists in both the General Regime and the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers. Workers in technical and auxiliary activities will also be able to access this benefit.
