Renewal of the Executive will improve economic expectations

Dina Boluarte assumed the position of President of the Republic, and with it, the task of forming a new cabinet that would ensure the political and economic stability of the country. The Republic spoke with two former Economy Ministers who agree that the renewal of the Executive in itself will improve the country’s economic expectations.

“There has been the longest period of business expectations in the field of depression since the indicator was reviewed and this has coincided with the period of higher international prices for our raw materials, although things got complicated six months ago, so this has been self-inflicted and it had its own name and it was Castillo ”, noted Alonso Segura, former head of the Ministry of Economy (MEF).

In this way, Segura projects that the investment climate and economic expectations will improve, although the context remains complicated. Boluarte must clean up the State to eradicate all appointments of profiles that are not suitable, which were the product of distribution and corruption promoted by the former president.

In this line, Luis Miguel Castilla, former head of the MEF, assured that he sees a positive outlook and improvement as long as the president has the support of the Congress of the Republic and depending on the team that she convenes.

In search of a new head for the MEF

Shortly after former President Pedro Castillo announced that he would close Congress, the ministers began to resign, among the first was Kurt Burneowho was the head of the MEF, a key ministry since it is in charge of planning and executing the State’s economic policy.

According to Alonso Segurait is not customary for the same Minister of Economy to remain when there is a change of president, although he points out that there would be nothing wrong with this being done. “Mr. Burneo had the competencies for the position, the problem was not him, but who accompanied him in the cabinet, they were a huge source of distortion and uncertainty,” accurate.

For this reason, Segura considers that whoever holds this position must be a person with experience in the State, with professional recognition and credibility. And secondly, “it is essential that once again the Ministry of Economy have the weight that corresponds to it within the decisions of the Executive, in everything that is economic matter, something that had not happened with Castillo.”

For his part, Castilla believes that the technical staff of this ministry has been maintained over time, which will give continuity to public policies, and that someone who knows the institution and gives the business sector a breather is required at the head. “The president would do well to appoint a completely new cabinet, with people with experience, who are morally clean, and I’m sure there are people who will want to contribute,” he concluded.

Impulso Peru advances towards the Plenary

On the eve of Castillo’s vacancy, the Congressional Budget Committee approved seven bills, unanimously, which were submitted by the Executive within the plan Impulse Peru.

These include a subsidy of up to 55% of the salary of young people hired by mypes, an electricity bonus of S/30.00 for poor households, access to cheap credit for mypes and an injection of S/1,643 million to comply with the payment of the Fund for the Stabilization of Prices of Fuels derived from Petroleum (FEPC).

There are already ten, in total, the MEF projects that hope to go to the Plenary.
