PNV and EH Bildu have supported its processing, but the jeltzales have warned that there is either an agreement with Euskadi and Navarra, or they will seek to knock down the taxes by any means. For its part, EH Bildu has lamented that these taxes “are not enough”, seeking to collect “very little” in these sectors.

The majority of Congress has endorsed this Tuesday the new taxes on large energy companies and banks proposed by PSOE and United We Can during the debate on the admission of the initiative, which has led to the rejection of PP, Vox and Ciudadanos.
In addition to the formations that make up the Executive, usual partners such as the Esquerra Republicana, the PNV or EH Bildu, but also the Canarian Coalition, the BNG and the CUP have supported the processing of taxes.
“Extraordinary times require extraordinary efforts,” the PSOE fiscal spokesperson, Patricia Blanquer, has justified, assuring that “inflation also generates winners and losers” and that “it is fair to ask for an effort now.”
The spokesman for United We Can, Pablo Echenique, has assured that the new taxes do not threaten the financial sustainability of the two sectors, which he has asked “to lend a hand”.
PNV and EH Bildu have supported its processing, but demanding an agreement for its application in the communities with a foral regime, Euskadi and Navarra, even warning the former to overturn the tax by legal means: “Either there is a foral agreement or we will oppose our scope”, warned Idoia Sagastizabal, who had already warned of the risk that the taxes would be challenged and end up having to be returned amounts collected.

For EH Bildu, its spokesperson Mertxe Aizpurua has lamented that these taxes “are not enough”, as they seek to collect “very little” in these sectors.
Thus, the collection sought in the case of energy companies is 2,000 million in two years when they have earned 11,000 million in six months, and 1,500 million in banking for two years when in 2021 they exceeded 20,000 million in profits. “And that without forgetting the 60,000 million ransom,” she added.
do @MertxeAizpurua to the Government: «The banks owe us 60,000 million. They earn more than 20,000 million a year, and you only want to apply a tax to them that raises 1,500 million ».

Among the groups opposed to the new taxes, the ‘popular’ Mario Garcés has despised the proposal by calling it a “legal monstrosity”; he has described as “fraud” that PSOE and United We Can try to present it as a patrimonial benefit – “this is a tribute” – and has spoken of “subjective persecution” against the affected sectors and of “collectivization”.
