A 58-year-old man was killed in Kherson on August 3, 2026, after Russian forces struck his vehicle with a drone, according to regional military administration head Oleksandr Prokudin.
The attack happened around 1:30 p.m. in the city's Korabelnyi district, Prokudin said. He said the man died on the spot after the enemy drone hit the vehicle he was in, writing on Telegram that the strike caused the fatality.
Pattern of attacks on Ukrainian cities
The report followed a separate update from Ukraine's Air Force, which said Russian forces launched a nighttime attack using 181 drones.
Russian forces regularly attack Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure across all regions of the country using strike drones, missiles, guided aerial bombs and multiple rocket launch systems, according to the report. Ukrainian authorities and international organizations describe these strikes as war crimes committed by the Russian Federation and say they are deliberate in nature, the report noted.
Strikes on utilities and healthcare facilities aimed at depriving people of electricity, heat, water, communications and medical care are considered a sign of genocidal actions, according to lawyers, genocide researchers and human rights defenders cited in the report.
The report also noted that the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, now ratified by 149 countries, obligates member states to prevent and punish acts of genocide during war and peacetime. Russian leadership denies that its military deliberately strikes civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian cities and villages or kills civilians and destroys hospitals, schools, kindergartens and energy and water facilities, the report said.
