Cooler weather will arrive in Moscow on Saturday, August 8, according to Yevgeny Tishkovets, lead specialist at the Fobos weather center, who shared the forecast on his Telegram channel.
Tishkovets said temperatures will range from 24 to 29 degrees Celsius during the first three days of the work week, then rise above 30 degrees on Thursday and Friday. He called Friday, August 7, a farewell to the heat.
Rain and cooler air expected
Tishkovets said the weekend cooldown will bring rain driven by a North Atlantic cyclone. He described it as a real downpour that would fill the air with freshness and ozone, with rainfall intensity of 15 to 20 liters per square meter, or about one fifth of the monthly norm, and up to 28 to 33 liters in parts of the Moscow region. He said nighttime temperatures would fall to 16 to 19 degrees and daytime highs would not exceed 19 to 22 degrees.
On Sunday, August 9, temperatures will return to the seasonal norm of 20 to 23 degrees, Tishkovets said, adding that the UV index will drop to a safe level for sunbathing.
Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry earlier urged Moscow residents to take precautions from Wednesday to Friday, August 5-7, warning of intense heat with air temperatures reaching up to 30 to 32 degrees.
