The International Chim Pum Callao 2026 salsa festival brings 12 hours of live music to the renovated Campolo Alcalde Stadium in La Perla on Saturday, August 15, celebrating the 190th anniversary of the founding of Callao.
Colombian salsa orchestra Grupo Niche leads an international roster of performers, returning to the stage in Peru's principal port city for the first time in 25 years as the headline act of the daylong celebration.
Organisers scheduled gates to open at 3:00 p.m. at the venue, located in the coastal district of La Perla within the Constitutional Province of Callao. Peruvian salsa groups will perform throughout the afternoon and early evening before international artists take the stage after 10:00 p.m.
International artists and special tributes
The international lineup includes Venezuelan group Adolescentes Orquesta alongside Puerto Rican soloists Willie Gonzalez, Nino Segarra, Viti Ruiz, and Moncho Rivera. The festival features two dedicated tributes honoring influential figures in tropical music history.
Viti Ruiz will perform a tribute to his brother Frankie Ruiz, the late Puerto Rican singer known as a pioneer of romantic salsa, delivering a selection of his major hits. Moncho Rivera will present a tribute to his uncle Ismael Rivera, the acclaimed vocalist celebrated across the Caribbean as the Sonero Mayor.
Grupo Niche, founded in Cali, Colombia, in the late 1970s, will close out the festival. Their return marks their first appearance at the Chim Pum Callao festival since 2001.
Performance schedule and lineup
The afternoon stage lineup opens with local and national Peruvian acts starting shortly after gates open at 3:00 p.m.:

- 3:30 p.m.: La Banda Chalaca
- 5:00 p.m.: Ayrton Laura
- 6:00 p.m.: La Clave de Alfonzo Collantes
- 7:00 p.m.: K'llao Salsa
- 8:00 p.m.: Maryto y su Salson
- 8:50 p.m.: Engerberth Tapia
- 9:30 p.m.: Zaperoko
Following the performance by Callao salsa group Zaperoko at 9:30 p.m., the evening transitions to international acts after 10:00 p.m. Nino Segarra, Willie Gonzalez, Moncho Rivera, Viti Ruiz, and Adolescentes Orquesta will perform sequential sets, leading into the final performance by Grupo Niche.
Venue details and ticket availability
The 12-hour concert takes place at the renovated Estadio Campolo Alcalde in La Perla, a sports complex named after former Peruvian national football team player Alejandro "Campolo" Alcalde. The district of La Perla forms part of Callao, a seaside metropolis bordering Lima that has long served as a major center for salsa culture in Latin America.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase online through Teleticket. Organisers confirmed that general admission prices have been maintained at the same rates as the previous year, with tickets remaining on sale until inventory is exhausted.
