Banco Caribe has honoured its founding shareholder and president ad vitam, Edmundo Aja, during a ceremony in Santo Domingo celebrating his contributions to the institution.



The board of directors recognised Aja for helping guide the organisation for more than two decades, celebrating his role in building a culture focused on integrity, innovation, and long term vision.

Family members, members of the board of directors, the executive committee, and special guests gathered for the emotional ceremony held in the Dominican capital.

Conference room dedication and commemorative book

As part of the tribute, the board of directors presented Aja with a commemorative plaque in honour of his leadership. The board also unveiled the renaming of its official meeting space as the Edmundo Aja Conference Room, establishing the venue as a symbol of his contribution to institutional strengthening.

The event also featured the launch of a commemorative book titled El legado de un visionario, which translates as The Legacy of a Visionary. The book details the history of Banco Caribe from the perspective of its founder.

The publication incorporates testimonies from board members, employees, family members, and business partners who witnessed Aja's leadership and personal character. It also includes a visual archive featuring photographs from significant moments throughout his personal and professional life.

Board statement on institutional values

Speaking on behalf of Banco Caribe, the board of directors said the tribute recognised a life dedicated to building more than just a financial entity. The board stated that Aja helped establish an organizational culture based on trust, commitment to people, and the conviction that institutions endure when built on solid principles.

The board added that the tribute celebrates a leader whose vision has transcended generations. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the legacy of leaders who helped build a solid, accessible bank prepared for the future.

Headquartered in Santo Domingo, the financial institution maintains governing oversight through its board of directors and executive committee. The title of president ad vitam is an honorary lifetime designation granted to key leaders who have shaped an institution's founding and long term growth.
