Athens Stock Exchange Jumps 1.64% to 17-Year High

The Athens Stock Exchange rallied 1.64% on Monday, with the General Index closing at 2,611.77 points, its highest level since November 12, 2009, when it ended at 2,620.44 points.

The gains pushed the index above 2,600 points for the first time this year, marking a new 17-year high. Since the start of 2026, the index has gained 23.16%. Trading value reached 295.791 million euros on 41,873,221 shares traded, according to the exchange. Major international markets also rose after Donald Trump announced a suspension of war operations, while international oil prices fell.

Top movers

The high-capitalization index rose 1.77% and the mid-cap index gained 0.20%. Among large-cap stocks, Aktor led with a 4.61% rise, followed by Piraeus Bank at 4.17%, Elvalhalcor at 4.14%, Viohalco at 4.07%, Jumbo at 3.06%, Motor Oil at 2.95% and Alpha Bank at 2.91%. The Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) fell 3.37%, trading without rights to a 1.8012-euro dividend, while Coca-Cola HBC dropped 1.37% and Hellenic Petroleum fell 0.77%.

Eurobank posted the highest trading volume with 7,794,140 shares, followed by Alpha Bank with 7,506,920 shares. Piraeus Bank recorded the highest trading value at 49.75 million euros, ahead of Eurobank at 34.88 million euros. Overall, 78 stocks rose, 31 fell and 15 remained unchanged. MIG gained 7.36% and Xylemporia preferred shares rose 6.83%, while Spyrou fell 6.10% and Dromeas dropped 4.11%.
