Antapaccay has launched the Espinar para el Mundo 2026 program to strengthen the competitiveness of textile artisans in the Espinar region of Cusco, Peru. The initiative will benefit 320 weavers from 13 rural communities within the direct area of influence of the mining operation.
Alan Farfán, Antapaccay’s social development manager, said the training would run for eight months and combine the strengthening of craft skills with business management tools, digital marketing and commercial outreach. Participants will also receive production materials, access to exhibition spaces at trade fairs and the opportunity to pursue accreditation as master artisans.
The program includes instruction in stick knitting, mechanical machine and pedal loom techniques, as well as strategies to secure commercial agreements and access new regional and national markets. Alliances with public and private institutions are also planned to support the sustainability of the artisans’ businesses.
Antapaccay has run similar programs since 2023. That year, a craft and literacy project reached 386 artisans; in 2024, a craft and entrepreneurship program served 369 participants; and in 2025, an earlier edition of Espinar para el Mundo benefited 385 women.
