Greek criminal lawyer Alexandros Lykourezos has recounted meeting his late wife Zoe Laskari as family and fans marked nine years since the actress passed away.
Laskari, a celebrated figure in Greek cinema, died on August 18, 2017, after suffering cardiac arrest at her home in the coastal town of Porto Rafti. She was married to Lykourezos for 41 years following their wedding in 1976, and the couple shared a daughter, Maria Eleni Lykourezou.

Lykourezos previously reflected on their romance during an interview on the television program Protagonistes in April 2025, describing how a routine legal consultation at his Athens office transformed into a lifelong partnership.
Despite Laskari being one of the biggest film stars in Greece, Lykourezos admitted during the broadcast that he had never watched any of her movies prior to their first meeting. He explained that she arrived at his office to discuss a legal case, and he was immediately struck by her beauty and commanding presence.
First Date in Plaka
Following her visit, Lykourezos weighed whether to keep the relationship strictly professional or attempt a personal connection. He decided to call her and invite her to dinner, an invitation she accepted.
Lykourezos recalled that Laskari picked him up driving a sports car. He noted that he did not drive himself, disliked being behind the wheel, and considered himself a poor driver. She drove them to Zafeiris, a well-known restaurant in the historic Plaka neighborhood of Athens.
The lawyer said the pair went to his house after dinner and spent several hours together, marking the official start of their relationship. He described the beginning of their bond as unique and beautiful, noting that their marriage endured through smooth waters and rough seas until Laskari passed away in her sleep in 2017.
Tributes and Legacy
The anniversary of the star's passing prompted emotional tributes from her family. Writing on social media on August 18, 2026, Maria Eleni Lykourezou expressed her lasting devotion to her mother, stating that she would always honour her and keep her in her thoughts.
Lykourezos has also previously spoken about the ongoing impact of her loss. In October 2025, the veteran lawyer reflected on their four decades together, stating that after 41 years of shared life, the void left by her death remains permanent.
