Artificial intelligence companies have been invited to the White House on Tuesday to discuss a self-regulation framework first announced in early June, government officials said.
The source, who spoke to the French Press Agency, did not give details on the timing or the full list of participants in the meeting.
Representatives of Meta and Anthropic said they had been invited to discuss the safety of testing for AI models.
Trump's June Executive Order
On June 2, President Donald Trump signed an executive order stating that, for cybersecurity reasons, the government would review the most advanced AI models. The order sets out a regulatory framework developed in consultation with major American companies in the sector, including Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, which would be able to submit their advanced models for government review before public release on a voluntary basis.
The text, the product of difficult negotiations, was seen as a shift for the Trump administration, which had until recently been more receptive to arguments against any form of regulation. The emergence of advanced AI models in the spring changed the picture, fueling concerns about the use of these powerful new tools for criminal purposes.
