The European Commission (EC) has already launched “certain mechanisms” to work with Ukraine in order to incorporate the country into the European Union in the future (EU), announced the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, in an interview with the local media LB.ua.
“I see how they are already starting up certain mechanisms at the level of the European Commission to work with Ukraine as a future member of the EU”, specified the diplomat, reported the local agency Ukrinform.
“At the level of the European Commission, reflection is already beginning … on issues such as the impact that Ukraine’s accession will have on European policies,” Kuleba added.
There is also debate, for example, about issues such as the number of deputies needed in the European Parliament or how far Ukraine’s agriculture could influence the bloc’s agricultural policy, he said.
The diplomat added that, although “the process of opening doors for Ukraine continues”, the European Union must also introduce reforms so that this process can be completed.
On June 23, the Heads of State and Government of the European Union adopted the decision to grant Ukraine and Moldova the status of a candidate country to join the EU. (YO)
