The Kremlin reacted this Wednesday to new accusations of cyberattacks and assured that currently blaming Moscow for any computer crime is a “hobby” or widespread pastime in the world.
“In this sense, it should be remembered that it is precisely Russia that has suffered quite powerful cyberattacks in recent days”, said the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov.
In his daily press conference, the Kremlin representative was asked about statements by businessman Elon Musk about hacker attacks on facilities on his Starlink internet network.
“We do not know what is behind these accusationswe do not have this information”, insisted Peskov.
Musk wrote on Twitter that Starlink “has so far resisted Russian cyber warfare hacking and interference attempts,” but warned that these attacks “are increasing.”
In turn, the European Union (EU) accused on Tuesday Russia of having carried out a cyber attack against a European satellite an hour before starting the military campaign in Ukraine on February 24, and assured that together with its international partners “it is considering additional measures to prevent, discourage, deter and respond” to it.
Russia denounced this week a computer attack against its online video platform, RuTube, a local alternative to YouTube, which has left the service inaccessible for several days. (I)
