Insider Ming-Chi Ko said that in 2023 the iPhone 15 will receive a USB-C connector
Authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko revealed in his Twitter the timing of the appearance of the USB-C port in Apple smartphones.
The analyst said that he studied Apple’s supply chain and found out that in 2023 the company will switch from Lightning to USB-C in its smartphones. If Apple does not change the tradition of naming phones, then the first model to receive a universal charging connector will be the iPhone 15.
The specialist also said that the introduction of USB-C will depend on the adoption of the features of the iOS connector. Ming-Chi Ko predicted that the market for USB-C accessories will grow significantly in the next couple of years due to the increased interest of Apple smartphone users.
Earlier, Ming-Chi Ko noted that Apple is testing the possibility of introducing a new connector into its smartphones, but is in no hurry with this decision. Switching to USB-C will hurt the market for genuine Made for iPhone accessories.
At the end of April, LeaksApplePro insider named the reasons for the lack of a USB-C port in the iPhone. According to the specialist, the company does not abandon the proprietary Lightning connector, as it receives royalties from manufacturers of accessories for the iPhone.
