Perpetrators of the massacre in Bucza subject to EU sanctions. More companies on the list of restrictions

On the black list with a ban on entry to the EU and blocked assets in Europe, there are more than 40 military men from the 64th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade, which is part of the 35th Army and which is responsible for the massacre of civilians in Bucza near Kiev – murders, rape and torture. “These atrocities constitute crimes against humanity and war crimes” – wrote in the document justifying the sanctions, which was seen by Beata PÅ‚omecka, the Brussels correspondent of Polish Radio.

The EU will hit the military. But not only

In addition, the EU is to once again sanction the families of the Kremlin’s people. This time they are the daughter, son and wife of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, is also on the sanctions blacklist, who – as stated in the justification – is one of the significant supporters of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

According to unofficial information from the Brussels correspondent of the Polish Radio, Beata Płomecka, Hungary tried to remove Cyril from the list, so far to no avail. And among the blacklisted Russian companies are manufacturers of off-road vehicles and trucks, among others.

Hitting the banks and trading in oil

Brussels plans to introduce other restrictions as well. Three Russian banks are to be excluded from the SWIFT system. The most important of them – Sberbank – are to be joined by the Russian Agricultural Bank and Credit Bank of Moscow.

However, the blow to the oil trade may prove even more severe for Moscow. The head of the European Commission announced a ban on Russian oil imports to European Union countries, which is to enter into force within six months. An embargo on oil products from Russia is to be introduced by the end of the year. Ursula von der Leyen said in the European Parliament that the proposals for the new, sixth package of sanctions include, apart from the oil embargo, also the exclusion of the largest Russian bank – Sberbank from the SWIFT system. Gazprombank still remains in the system, serving as a settlement institution for Russian gas importers.

The EU also wants to enter the military responsible for the massacre of civilians in Bucza near Kiev on the sanctions list. The sanctions package will also include the removal of Russian media from the EU. They will not be able to broadcast in the countries of the Community. Additionally, the EU intends to ban the EU companies from providing advisory services to Russia.

The details of the sixth package of sanctions, which include the disconnection of banks from the international settlement system, were presented in the European Parliament by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
