Russia expelled EU diplomats. A dozen or so employees of the delegation were considered persona non grata

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the delegation employees were deemed persona non grata. It is a response to similar actions on the part of the Community.

Earlier last week, Brussels stated that 19 Russians were engaged in activities contrary to their diplomatic status and ordered them to leave.

The Union condemned Russia’s decision

A spokesman for the head of EU diplomacy called the Russian government’s decision to kick European diplomats unjustified and groundless. “These diplomats performed their functions in full respect of the principles of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. There is no basis for this decision, this is a simple retaliation,” wrote Peter Stano in a statement, adding that such actions would further deepen Russia’s international isolation. He stressed that the European Union continued to urge Russia to end its aggression against Ukraine and to return to respect for international rules.

The West expels diplomats, and Russia is responding the same

This week the local ordered to return to the country. This was Moscow’s response to the decision of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs that considered 45 Russians to be undesirable.
