At least 53 people have died in the bombings attributed to Russian troops in the city of Chernigov, in northern Ukraine, in the last 24 hours, reported Viacheslav Chaus, head of the State Administration of that region in a message on Facebook that collects the ukrinform agency.
“The enemy is exposing the city to systemic artillery and air strikes, destroying the civilian infrastructure of Chernigov”said the regional official.
“In the last 24 hours, 53 bodies of victims killed by the Russians have been taken to the morgue”Chaus specified.
Despite continuous shelling, crews of electricians and other utility workers are constantly working in the city, he added.
They are trying to restore electricity, gas and water supplies that have been severely damaged by continuous bombing. Chaus advised all those who take refuge in places where there is no water or food to go to the Ukrainian military centers for help.
The regional official also recalled the incident that occurred yesterday in the city when, he said, at least 13 people died when a group of citizens who were queuing at a supermarket to buy bread were attacked by the Russians.
